UPDATE!
April 12, 2003
This site is pretty much a time capsule. New stuff added today.
*you know and I know that geocities sneaks in little windows with ads. they started doing it way after this page was built, so just ignore them, please.

BREAK YOUR CHAINS

This is the web version of 86 Pounds of Punk, a zine that I started in July of 1997. It's a personal zine that chronicles the thoughts, experiences, and influences in the life of a punk kid whose pals call her Dinki. I'm not trying to offend, make personal attacks on, or criticize any individual or band. I'm just writing about my life and the things that matter to me. I want to tell people about music and ideas that I think are rad, and I want to hear your ideas too. If you e-mail me or leave a few words in my guestbook I'll respond, I swear.Keep coming back, cuz I'm always adding new stuff!

Click Here to see woozyhelmet in action!!!

Go to the official Woozyhelmet page for show info, MP3s, a complete discography, show log, and even a live video!

go to this page to hear some of those quaint old realaudio clips from our 1998 CD

E-MAIL ME or get my PO BOX info from the official woozyhelmet site to send me stuff. The print version of 86 Pounds is currently sold out, but more copies will be available soon. For now, enjoy the electronic version.

Sign my guestbook, Punk.

BENT NAILS AND BLEEDING HEARTS ARE WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT, KID

Click here to see the old guestbook, it was cooler actually, I don't know why geocities took it away.

STUFF FROM THE PAPER VERSION OF 86 POUNDS OF PUNK:

A New Animated Comic
Insomnia is your friend.

Music In the Car
Time alone with music and memories. A testimonial to the fact that punks can be sentimental squirrels. This article will appear in issue #9.

Punk Kid Goes to SXSW
This is an article from issue #8. Don't expect a write up of hot new music acts.

Cover Art from the Real 86 Pounds of Punk Zine
See some covers and descriptions of my zine. You can get it at Sound Exchange and 33 degrees in Austin, directly from me, or from a handfull of small distributors located between Singapore and Tampa.

WOOZYHELMET NEWS CENTER
Be the first kid on your street to know when our reckless pop band is playing next, what the track list on the new EP is, and what happened to us at the last party we played at.

Slackin', Sleepin', and Drinkin' the Summer Away
This shameless article gives you a taste of what I did to keep myself busy the summer of 98. It first appeared in 86 Pounds #6. Look for the rare photos of the now extinct Vidi Vitties!

Punk Kid Comics
Insight into the pleasures of laziness?

The Night Vandals, Preverts, and Vidi Vitties Show
Get a sneak peek at this article I wrote on the "magical" last night of rock at the Blue Flame.

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
Issue #4's article on these infamous Austin rowdies explores the aesthetics of destruction that these kids have mastered in their live performance. There are some neat pictures here, too.

The 1,4,5's return!!!
Look at some nice little pictures taken by a nice little kid of this nice little band. I know the pictures don't look as clear in 86 PoP#5, but hey, maybe I kinda like that cheap, pixelated and then photocopied look.

Zine Articles: Some Thoughts of a Punk
Here are some articles I wrote for 86 Pounds. The first one is about Denton Fest and the second one is just some ramblings on the connotations of the word "punk" and it's meaning in my life. The third one is some stuff I wrote after going to a show in San Antonio.

I Could Make That!
Bored? Got some spraypaint and and a few minutes? Learn how to make some pretty decent patches without any complicated silkscreening knowledge at all!

Lone Star is the Reason
Click here to read about my perspective of 100 Watt Clock's last show ever.

Tattoos by Dinki
Yes, it hurts, but that's part of the fun. And hey, what's more punk rock than permanently marring the flesh of your close friends? These are pictures of some tattoos I did on friends before getting my job at Dandyland Tattoos.

SOME OTHER STUFF:

Art from the depths of my scroungy little soul

There was once a time, it seems so long ago now, when I was a college student working on getting a BA in Studio Art. Okay, it was just a few months ago, but I said it "seems" like it's been forever. This is a page with some paintings and lithographs that I did while wasting my scholarship money at UT.

See My First Animated Cartoon

Listen to Some Austin Bands
this page lets you listen to some music from a few Austin bands I mention in this site, like ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, The Kiss Offs, The Softs, Paul Newman, woozyhelmet, and more!!!

OTHER ZINES
This page has some descriptions and mailing addresses for some of my favorite zines. Write to these kids and get their zines!

DO IT YOURSELF, PUNK: How to start a zine
Hey, feel like you're the only one in the world with a fascination with plastic wrap, with chronic social retardedness, or who thinks that the entire human population should move civilization into the ocean? Maybe it's time you shared your unique gifts with the world by writing a zine. Who knows, maybe you'll even find your place in a community of folks who are just as warped as you are.

Braid/Rainer Maria/Sweep the Leg Johnny was soooo good
This page is LOADED with pictures from the October 1997 show in Austin.

List O' Linx
Links to stuff from the 21st Street Co-op, Austin bands and music info, crazy punk pages, vegetarian stuff, random weirdness, bands I like from outside of Austin, etc...

My diabolical scheme is working. Counterinnocent minds have been corrupted by 86 Pounds of Punk on the Web.
