'PAS' FRONTS LEGENDARY SOUNDS AT CLASSIC AMERICAN GUITAR SHOW

May 17, 1997 - ???

Dix Hills, NY (May 17, 1997) - Tonight, with the help of a PAS sound system, the theater of Five Towns College rocked with classic performances by music legends Al Kooper, Leslie West and Andy Summers. The Celebrity Jam, held in the 700 seat theater of Five Towns College, was one of the highlights of the Fifth Annual Classic American Guitar Show.

Dave Wilkerson, owner of Right Coast Recording in Lancaster, Pennsylvania coordinated the technical aspects of the concert and acted as FOH engineer. "We had great comments from the players about the PAS sound, especially the monitors," said Wilkerson. "The response is so smooth and clean, you can really push the gain before feedback occurs. And the FOH system has the same attributes - incredibly loud and clean. We used very little system EQ and the sound was easy to mix and listen to."

Each side of the triamped PAS TOC™ (Time Offset Correction) system consisted of two RS-2.2s, two FT--2.2s and two CB-2 Dual 18" sub cabinets. Of the eight stage monitor mixes, six utilized pairs of SW-2.2 monitors. Drum and keyboard monitors were provided by FT-2.2s augmented with a CB-1 subwoofer. Side fill was accomplished with RS-2.2s. Rounding out the array was a bank of TOC™ R-2 and S-2 active crossover networks with system processing electronics.

Steve Remote of Aurasonic, Ltd., provided the PAS TOC™ system in conjunction with PAS rep Marvin Welkowitz of Pro Audio Marketing. "Even though this is an informal setting, performers like Leslie, Al and Andy are used to working with premium sound systems," Remote commented. "Our new PAS boxes are among the best high-end concert systems available. They compete with anything out there," he added.

The Classic American Guitar Show is an annual two-day event featuring thousands of rare and vintage guitars on display. It lures some of the music industry's top players, collectors and afficianados to the Long Island college town of Dix Hills. In past years, the Celebrity Jam Session has featured performances from other top ax-slingers including Steve Howe of Yes and Ian McDonald of Foreigner and King Crimson fame.
