Please remember this: This is only what I know and what I think about this "split"/rumour or whatever. I am written this so maybe other Slayer fans get to know more about this - hopefully - sick rumour.

- When I checked out my mail, I got a message saying that Slayer broke up

I read it just before I had to go to work, so I didn't have the time to check it out on the Roadrunner Chatrooms. That whole day I felt like shit. Wondering what to do if they quitted. I couldn't concentrate on anything. I then called a store in Copenhagen, "Metalized" for asking if they have heard anything - they was very surprised when I told them about the "Slayer split" - they said that "we will be the first to know if so"...

After the call, I was relaxed a bit - but still...After all, one guy in the chat room said that he worked in a record store and then they received this bulletin about the split?! It didn't sound like he was joking.

27-3-1997:

Once again I checked the chat rooms for news. I then read that a guy had contacted "Century Media" about that whole thing, and Century Media had heard abselutely nothing!!!! It must be a rumour. Another guy also wrote that Slayer have been in the studio yesterday, so how can they have broken up????

Right now, I am pretty relaxed about the whole thing. It must be a rumour. It was said that they split up because of relations with the drummer. That sounds weird. Slayer has just fired Jon and then re-recuited Paul. And Paul always got fine along with Jeff, Kerry and Tom. After late 1995, when Paul told the rest of Slayer that he wanted to quit - they still were friends.

Also, right now - Slayer are in the middle of doing their new album - alot of new stuff is happening for the band: Paul is back in, The new Album, Tours.... It must be a rumour!!

I maybe could understand the split if things were going downhill for Slayer, y'know - no record sales, no people at their concerts..... But that is not the case. Slayer is still going strong - from my opinion , they haven't even peaked yet! It just doesn't make sense.

But that rumour has affected me in a way. I can't stop thinking - what's going to happen WHEN they are quitting, because they will - every band will at some time. How would I feel? Ok - maybe that's going to happen in 10 years from now - and at that time it is not certain that I still listen to Slayer.

When I am writing this, I am listening to "Undisputed Attitude" - Imagine if that was their "Goodbye" album??!! I appretiate Slayer more now, than before - now I really know the possibility for them breaking up. This may sound stupid - but I never thought about it. As a teenager I grew up with Slayer and now I am in my early twenties, so they have been with me for a long time.

I've always thought that Slayer would last forever - but that is not the case, let us just hope that we get the chance to listen to their music for another 15 years or so.

All this shit has really made me thinking - now I know that Slayer are not immortal gods, they are humans like you and me and therefore just as fragile...
