OASIS Faq
THE TIMES
9th January 1999
- "King Of The Castle"
- A hotelier's year is chronicled by Kit Chapman, owner of The Castle Hotel, Taunton, Somerset. Extracted from 'An Innkeeper's Diary' published by Weidenfeld & Nicholson.
- Saturday 27th September 1997
- We escaped to France and Oasis checked in for the weekend: Noel, Liam, Patsy, the other members of the band, minders, publicists and a red Ferrari bearing the registration OAS 1S. Staff were instructed to keep me informed by fax and telephone. Mercifully, Oasis did not trash the place, not physically that is, but Liam's vocabulary meant that the staff spent much of the weekend segregating the band from the rest of our guests.
- The faxes came through each morning: "...a crowd of youngsters outside the hotel until 5am. Bob [the night porter] sent them packing."
- "...They cut short the show by 15 minutes to be back in time to watch "Match Of The Day". They returned at 11.15 and had 23 kebabs delivered, which they ate in their rooms. At 1 am came down to the bar where they stayed until 4.30am. They were a little loud at times but no worse than a bunch of conference delegates."
