Here are four C Major chords. Try playing these:
Take a look at the chords at the 3rd (III) and 8th (VIII) frets. If you
move them up, one fret at a time, they will form the Db, D, Eb, E, F, Gb, G,
Ab, A, Bb, and B chords, then back to C. Moving the C chords down one fret
forms the Bb chord. Try playing them all. Jazz sheet music doesn't
have chord diagrams, so you should learn these before continuing. Use
any chord inversion you wish.
Now try this:
F ///
F //
Gb /
G ///
G ///
D //
Eb ////
Gb /
B ////
Eb /
B ///
B /
E ////
D //
A /
Gb /
Eb //
Db ////
F ///
D /
G ////
Ab //
Practice these until you know them. The slash marks (///) mean you should play three
downstrokes. Next lesson, we will be studying the Seventh chords.
