But it goes beyond that...It really disturbs me as a teenage girl to see all my friends, everyone I know, salivate over this movie , saying that its an intelligent heart felt depiction of "True Love" that "really makes you think".
Lets face it, Titanic was a movie made to attract the teenage girl audience, complete with pretty boy Leo and a simplistic story of "forbidden love".
To me this just simbolizes the dumbing down and steriotyping of all teenage girls. We're supposed to love these simple stories with big hunks. I guess I now see that we maybe deserve it as my friends are returning to see it for the 9th time because "Leo i
like such a good actor!"
The constant arguments that I get from these fanatics is that its a true story..."Well, like just because Rose and Jack didn't like exist doesn't mean that it COULDN'T have happened."
This movie isn't a memorial for all those who died on the Titanic. Instead it trivializes their deaths with a fabricated simplistic love story and by completely ignoring any of the thousands of other stories on that ship.
The characters are so steretypical, lets face it, Cal could have just walked out of some melodrama a la Dudly Do Right.
This movie is not a heart felt film that just goes to prove that America "can like handle sensitive thoughtful movies now." Instead it was a deliberate attempt to tap a market and take advantage of people's sentimentality. I'm very sad to see that it work

I cannot for the life of me understand how this movie is still somehow number 1 in the box office. I am appalled at the fact that it won so many Academy Awards. If they had gotten actual actors (which, I'm sorry to those of you who love him, but Leo does
not classify as) it MIGHT have been Ok. It was DEFINATELY not worth what it cost to make! I think that there are many movies this year that were FAR better, and it's sad that they were snubbed at the Oscars, just because they didn't make as much money!
