- Greenland (Officially - Kalaallit Nanaat) Huge island between
the North Atlantic and the Polar Sea, separated from the North American continent by the Davis Strait and Baffin Bay. Most of the island is a lofty plateau, 84% of which is ice-capped and 9,000 to 10,000 ft. in altitude. Under the 1953 Danish constitution, the colony became an integral part of the realm with representatives in the legislature.
