Recommended Modifications for a stock 5.5psi type R
                                                            Modifications:

-Short Ram Intake system (JR or Comptech both make applications for the JRSC). It will allow the car to breath in cold dence air, which is a ket element to supercharged cars.

-Hondata (or similar stand-alone ECU) that is custom dyno tuned to the cars parts and setup. This will fix many of the problems and flaws with the JR setup. Also RC injectors (440cc) maybe also be needed.
The below JR devices are not needed if you use a stand alone ECU setup. The JR devices are add-ons to simulate having a stand-on style setup.

-JR BTC
The JR Timing Controller is specifically designed for your forced induction Acura. This unit has an extensive list of features, which make this the best timing controller available.
o Base timing curve optimized specifically for the Acuras. Hundreds of hours on the dyno were needed to dissect and then re-map the perfect timing curve. The timing curve is three-dimensional. It looks at RPM, Boost, & Timing. It retards timing where necessary and timing is advanced wherever possible.
o Only the highest quality industrial and automotive grade componentry is used.
• All circuitry is encapsulated to provide superior protection against moisture, vibration and shock.
• Circuitry has built in safeguards against incorrect installation, improper jump starting and sudden electrical failure.
• Adjustable timing curve - allows up to 2 degrees of retard per pound of boost. Adjustment is incredibly accurate using our in cockpit adjuster. The knob has detents, which allow you to accurately make
changes or return to exactly where you started. Each click of the knob is one tenth of a degree of retard per pound of boost.

-JR Map Controller.
Continuing in Jackson Racing's effort to bring the latest in electronic technology to the market, they have now released the new MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) signal controller. They take advantage of the quick operation of the factory MAP sensor and combine it with our advanced electronic circuitry to allow faster and more complete control of the fuel curve. With the new MAP Controller installed, the MAP sensor is now able to read boost without illuminating the "check engine" light. Electronically, we convert this new MAP signal, which now reads vacuum and boost, to put the ECU into open loop operation immediately upon reaching 0 vacuum. The benefits are a smoother transition from vacuum to boost and lower overall "tip-in" fuel pressure settings.

-JR Vpak
Take control of your VTEC actuation with the Jackson Racing VPAC. The unique amplifier comes with an adjustable dial that allows VTEC engagement from 2500 rpm to 6000 rpm. Jackson Racing has developed the VPAC to allow the consumer to control when the VTEC system is activated for different racing applications. The VPAC uses signals from all of the important VTEC supply inputs and amplifies these signals to change the engagement point of the VTEC system. This means no guessing on how much extra fuel you will need. Our controller accesses the VTEC fuel map on the ECU for continued proper fuel delivery once VTEC is engaged. Factory safety features such as proper engine temperature and oil pressure are retained to ensure maximum safety. For maximum performance on forced induction cars we recommend installing our Jackson Racing Boost Timing Controller. The VPAC compliments the BTC to put full timing back into the car when VTEC is actuated. The VPAC sports a Jackson Racing logo that lights up in red when the car is started and a VPAC logo that lights up blue when the VTEC engagement point you have set is reached.

Not Critical Modifications, yet will help with tuning and getting every bit of power out for your setup:
-Air/Fuel Controller (APEXi VAFC or SAFC, Fields AFC)
These units will help prevent the top end dip in power and also help fine tune the air/fuel curve. Also the ket feature is the ability to fine tune the air/fuel curve for max. performance.
NOTE: you need a wide-band O2 to tune these.
-Colder spark plugs
These will burn at a colder rate, which is very good. Look for the 7 range NGK plugs. JR also sells their own version of the colder range plugs.
-Gauges (boost, fuel pressure, oil pressure or ail/fuel ratio)
The boost gauge will let you know what your current psi is, which can also let you know if a belt is slipping or if you have a vacuum leak. The fuel pressure gauge will let you know you current know if your pressure is correct. This is a VERY critical gauge, its the most important when it comes to tuning. The oil or air/fuel ratio is an option. The oil will help show if pressure becomes a problem, and the air/fuel ratio will only help you determine if your cars air/fuel ratio is correct during WOT.

-LOTS OF DYNO TUNING WITH A WIDE-BAND O2SENSOR!
Supercharging a type R can be one of the most frustrating and exciting modifications to do to your type R. The NUMBER 1 rule to supercharging these cars as with any car is to, DO IT RIGHT! Make sure you have the install done by a shop or someone you know has done great work and can prove the results with solid numbers. Best way to make sure the cars is running right is to dyno the car before and after. Yeah it’s a lot of money, however in the long run it can save you tons of money! If I could have done this I could easily saved myself $1300 in fixing and tuning. Next I to make sure the tuning is perfect. These cars come for the factory perfectly tuned, and hate being messed with! If you make the tuning worse then factory tuning the car will fight you in every way possible.
Whatever you do don't give up! I wanted to give up many times. Heck I almost considered driving the car of cliff to ride myself of this project. I will promise you this. The kit is not a bolt on and go gift. Out of all my research I have only found about 2 JRSC type R's that were done right from day one. One of the cars was from the shop I go to. (DSR) The other car was from the south, which also had a killer shop doing the work.
