a rain of spit upon my cheek
laughter at cruel amuse
shattered windows
broken glass
no property stolen

words like diamond blades
to sever completely
tossed unwittingly

a scorpion's venom
a snake's bite
a defense

bobbing in tar-like shadow
inescapable and soft
unyielding
dark

deep as poison
suffocating as infatuation
paralyzing
unbelievable
inevitable
confused shocked bleeding
my hands are red
my side is pierced
I can not tell why

the hurt is sharp
the pain is fierce
modesty can see
the truth

carelessly grazed

now struck back
surprised at hurt
as if amoral

why should any harm me
I know my own
beguiling sweetness

who could
frown
attack
one such as I
as harmless as
a daisy in a meadow

wisdom dictates
sense reveals the
ignorant damage done
repeatedly

torn by the
furious enraged
it slipped
the irrvocable damage
shattered glass

can it be glued
could I try to tie it
back with yarn
or lace it up with string

thread will not hold
finger pricked
guilt infesting

i am so sorry
could i replace it

could i sweep it
under the rug
throw it away
cheer you up with
a joke or a story

could I pay for it
or pretend it didn't happen
so that you might forget
it's exsitence

i wish i could fix it
make it better
all my fault
sorry about
your heart
what a worm i am  i crawl
in the dirt creeping by your toes

what a slug, a wretch,
a witch, a meanie

burned with
my own match

i will call myself a fool
an igmo an idiot
a horrible snake
common vermin
ice queen

i will beg if you wish

maybe even shed a drop of my soul
let if drip off my eyelash
if it would serve as balm

i will pull down the banner
the high walls
the proud and angry
vandalism ensribed on my lips for you
to read on in my frown

i will cover my face with ashes
and wear black and travel far for absolution

will it appease obcenities
humble pleas

sorry
expression
singing weeping dancing
laughing yelling

smooth the worry wrinkle
in my heart
with the heat of your
unconditional love

expression
composing pruning writing
drawing screaming

listen with sainted ear
of what wears
my heart and streches it
until hangs so low
as to drag behind me

expression
kissing punching hurting
teasing throwing

let me have the consolation
I feel I so little deseve

expression
it the right way
I must not let my thorns
tear your insides
let you take my burden
who is burdened already

expression
breathing
sighing
sleeping
