Considered by many to be a human highlight reel, the star is a pioneer of the high-flying and amazing X Division. Styles began his career in Georgia, joining TNA at its inception in 2002. At the debut TNA Pay-Per-View in June 2002, Styles was crowned the first X Division Champion after beating Jerry Lynn, Psychosis and Low Ki in a double elimination match. Styles achieved his dream of becoming NWA World Heavyweight Champion in April of 2003, defeating Raven and Jeff Jarrett in a three way bout for the gold. The Phenomenal One would go on to dominate TNA Wrestling, winning additional NWA World, Tag Team and X Division Title on multiple occasions. In May of 2005, AJ Styles once again became NWA World Heavyweight Champion, defeating Jeff Jarrett in the main event of the “Hard Justice” Pay-Per-View with Tito Ortiz serving as special referee. Although Styles lost the World Title in the King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary, he is still one of the top contenders to the gold no matter who holds it. For an athlete so decorated with championship accolades, it’s not a matter of if Styles once again becomes World Champion, but when and how many more reigns he will have in his amazing career. |
