James and Idol Stevens have posed the only substantial threat to the WWE Tag Team Champions, but Brian Kendrick and his partner Paul London held them off on Sept. 8's SmackDown. They also took care of the tag team made up of Idol Stevens and Kid Kash. Brian Kendrick is one of the more unusual and eccentric young Superstars on SmackDown. And the duo of Kendrick and Paul London is among the most exciting and unpredictable in WWE. Kendrick made the ultimate sacrifice by putting his dream as a WWE Superstar temporarily on hold to hone his skills. That way, he could one day return as a stronger, quicker and wiser and even more dangerous WWE competitor. Traveling all over the globe to achieve this goal, Kendrick trained in the strict Japanese wrestling dojos. He competed in the Orient and seemingly all points in between to continue gaining more experience. Still in his early 20s, Kendrick has been working to make it in wrestling since he enrolled in the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy in the summer of 1999. Since Kendrick was the smallest trainee at HBK’s school, he originally figured he'd catch on with a company in Mexico or Japan, where size isn't necessarily as important as it is in the U.S. He also didn't have the standout amateur background that WWE officials covet. But Shawn Michaels — himself known for overcoming the odds — saw potential. With Michaels as a teacher (and unlimited amounts of fortitude and hard work), Kendrick gained momentum. Now, Kendrick will use that same determination to distinguish himself from SmackDown’s other high-flying Superstars. Kendrick and London scored yet another upset victory when they defeated MNM for the sixth straight time at Judgment Day to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship. At The Great American Bash, Kendrick and London successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against the vicious and rugged Pitbulls, Kid Kash and Jamie Noble. |
