Sabin won his first reign in a three-way match against X pioneer Jerry Lynn and The Amazing Red. From there, Sabin would prove himself to be an elite in his own right by winning the Super X Cup. Also in the year 2003, Chris Sabin took part in what was voted “Match of the Year” by TNA fans around the world when he defended the X-Division Title in the first ever Ultimate X Match. Though the match was a great spectacle, Sabin lost his title. Later in January 2004, Sabin would avenge his Ultimate X loss by regaining the title in Ultimate X2 against Matt Bentley, Christopher Daniels, and Senshi. Sabin would continue his success in the X-Division by winning the World X Cup for Team USA in 2004 with a win in the Ultimate X Match over Petey Williams of Canada and Hector Garza of Mexico. Jerry Lynn, the captain of Team USA at the time, could not have been any happier to see his protégé pick up the win because in 2006 he named Sabin the new captain of Team USA. Success continued for Sabin, claiming the World X Cup for Team USA by defeating Petey Williams in a sudden death match on “iMPACT!”. With so much success already in Sabin's young career, it's a true fact that the star has done wonders for the X-Division, as has the X-Division in return by giving stars like Sabin a platform to shine. However, Kevin Nash recently made it his mission to destroy the X Division. If Sabin has anything to say about this, then you can expect a war between the two because Sabin never quits! |
