Ware (born James Ware on June 20, 1957 in Union City, Tennessee) is an American professional wrestler. He gained most of his popularity in the World Wrestling Federation when he was known as the Birdman. He used to come to the ring with his macaw Frankie, flapped his arms like a bird before and after his matches while dancing. Koko spent his early days in the sport in the Mid-South, Georgia and other NWA territories. Koko portrayed the characters "Sweet Brown Sugar" and "Stagger Lee" at different times. He teamed with Norvell Austin as the "Pretty Young Things" or "PYT Express" in Dallas, Florida and Memphis. In 1986, Koko made his first appearance in the WWF, and competed there until 1993. He was tag team partners with Owen Hart in High Energy. Frankie the macaw died in a house fire in 2001 while Koko and his family were at church. Koko still actively wrestles for the Memphis Wrestling promotion, since 2003. He also appeared at WWE Homecoming, RAW's return to the USA Network, on October 3, 2005. He fought (and was defeated by) Rob Conway on the October 28, 2005 edition of WWE HEAT. He has also wrestled in an Indiana based promotion known as AWA-Supreme Championship Wrestling where he has wrestled against people like Eric Draven and The Blackhearts. |
