Luckily, Rosey uses his natural assets on the side of good as RAW’s resident superhero. While he can be a bit clumsy at times, Rosey’s in-ring ability is no laughing matter, as his sheer size and power allows him to be dominant at times. Last fall, Rosey’s crime fighting partner, The Hurricane, turned his back on his super-sized associate. After losing his trademark cape and mask, the man now known as Gregory Helms said that Rosey had been holding him back for years. Helms challenged Rosey to a match on the Nov. 7, 2005 edition of RAW; that night, the teacher was able to turn back the student despite the massive size difference. Rosey has not been seen on RAW since that night. Whether he’s out fighting for truth and justice or biding his time for a return, you can bet that whenever Rosey does come back, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Since his WWE debut in 2002, Rosey has been a tag team specialist. A former standout football player at the University of Hawaii, Rosey debuted with Jamal as part of 3 Minute Warning, entering WWE as a powerful ass-kicker answering to RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff’s every whim. In their first months in WWE, they took out anyone Bischoff needed eliminated, no matter whether it was Big Show or The Fabulous Moolah. At Unforgiven 2002, Rosey & Jamal scored a major victory over Billy & Chuck in an inter-promotional battle. In the following weeks, they defeated the likes of Booker T & Goldust and the Dudleys while adding Rico into the fold as an associate. In May 2003, however, Rico and Jamal walked out on Rosey, leaving him a man without an identity. Enter the Hurricane. Looking for a fellow crime fighter to help clean up RAW, he turned to Rosey, who became a Super Hero In Training that August. Together, Hurricane & Rosey made a formidable duo for over two years; when Rosey became a full-fledged superhero in August 2004, the team’s legitimacy was further solidified. In May 2005, the team finally captured the World Tag Team Championship, winning a Tag Team Turmoil Match at Backlash. Adding Stacy Keibler to their team that summer, they defended the gold against all comers for four months. However, following a loss to Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch at Unforgiven, things began to go sour. Stacy was soon traded to SmackDown, and Hurricane’s attitude began to change. Frustrated because they were unable to recapture the World Tag Team Championship, Hurricane abandoned his partner on RAW in October. Hurricane suffered a brutal attack by Triple H, and Rosey was late to make the save. As Rosey tried to help him, Hurricane then removed his mask and threw it at his partner, walking away. The next week, Hurricane refused to come to the ring as Rosey was beaten in what amounted to a Handicap Match against Cade & Murdoch. |
