1) Younger performers should avoid material that contains extreme matter (i.e. cancer, death.)
2) Choose a piece that is right for you. For example, don't perform a 25 year- old women monologue if you are a 12 year-old girl.
3) Practice, practice, and practice. The better you know a piece, there is a less chance of you forgetting it.
4) If material is from a movie, make sure that your performance does not look like a celebrity impression and that you are not copying the performance from the movie.
5) Make sure that material containing offensive language, or is innapropriate for your age is not to be used.
6) Do not confuse a comedic monologue with a stand-up performance. |
