Rick "Flash" Deckard |
Ryan Shehee (07.08.01) shehee@mac.com |
Complete as of (02.06.02) |
Rick feels at home wearing his overcoat, which conceals his shoulder-holstered Predator perfectly. He appears bulky, because of his dermal armor and Securetech Armor Clothing. He wears a Flash t-shirt constantly (only cleaning it every few days, whenever he cleans his gun). And when his wired reflexes are in control he can't help but twitch. He has a shaved head and goatee, with blue eyes and a large nose.
His father a Lone Star officer and mother a Chinese immigrant involved in magics, Rick grew up with a sense of right and wrong. His mother was killed in a riot after his father was called to duty and Rick wasn't able to defend her. Years later he learned of the Taoist philosophy and adopted it for himself, releasing the anger and contempt he felt for his father. When he was old enough he entered Lone Star himself and began down the road of cybernetics. Slowly he began to think that all the violence he was facing every day came from him actually trying to do good. He had a moment of lucidity. He himself was responsible, because he was adding to the light side (Yang) and therefore provoked a response from the dark side (Yin). Rick left his position and went into a depression which continues to this day. He takes the occasional bodyguard position to pay the bills, but is looking for spiritual enlightenment... which may never come.
Rick is very good with several weapons, but is especially good with his Ares Predator. Having not had a close relationship with a woman in some time he is complacent, looking only for harmony in himself. Rick doesn't like to be separated from his weapon. He is egotistical in thinking that everything he does will change the balance of the universe, either for light or dark.
