Everyday terms/expressions
- AHN: A Gorean Hour, twenty to the day, which is the same length as a day on Earth. This is no accidental coincidence, since Earth and Gor share the same orbit.
- AR: The largest and one of the oldest cities on Gor, it has over 10,000 years of recorded history, and some of the strictest laws on all of Gor.
- BRAND: Slaves on Gor are branded, usually with a Kef, the Gorean equivalent of 'K,' the first letter of the words kajira and kajirus. Males slaves are branded with a block Kef (the Gorean name for the letter "K"), whereas the female slaves are branded with a highly stylized cursive "Kef" which also resembles the letter "K." Although many different brands can be found, with some Masters even choosing to design a unique brand for their slaves, the most common is the Kef.
- CASTE: The specific profession which a free Gorean is born into. Can be changed depending upon natural talent and aptitude.
- CYLINDER: The Gorean equivalent of a tower or office building. They have powered lights, elevators, as well as stairs. Some may reach a thousand feet high. Each tower is usually reachable by a bridge. The tallest tower in the city is the Cylinder of Justice (like city hall)
- COLLAR: A metal collar, normally with a seven pin snap-lock, which marks its wearer as a slave. Some such collars are finely engraved and inscribed with messages or the name of the slave's Master/Mistress... though there are many varieties of slave collar upon Gor, the typical one in use is a smooth, flat, close-fitting hinged band. The Turian collar is rounder and looser, allowing a Master the option of inserting his hand into it to manipulate the wearer. Male slaves typically wear a simpler collar which consists of a length of iron which is hammered about their necks, permanently; only one of the Caste of Metal Workers can remove such a collar. On Gorean IRC, collars are simulated by the depiction of a name or symbol in brackets { } after the slave's current IRC nick; an example would be lana{Turm}, which indicates that the individual in question is named lana, and is the slave of Turmus, whose mark is {Turm}. It is customary for online Goreans to use unique groupings of letters for their slave's collars, to avoid confusion.
- EHN: A Gorean minute, forty to the ahn.
- HAR-TA!: Faster!
- "l WISH YOU WELL" or simply, "Be well": good bye, farewell
- KAISSA: A Gorean game similar to Earth chess.
- KURT: The common Gorean slave whip, consisting of a two foot long braded leather handle and a set of five individual lashing straps.
- RARIUS: Gorean for "Warrior." (plural is Rarii)
- ROBES OF CONCEALMENT: Many women of Gor, especially those in the high cities, are expected to wear such Robes if they are free. They consist of a thick, brocaded gown which covers her from feet to chin, a loose robe worn atop the gown to conceal her figure, a heavy headdress similar to an Arab kafiyeh, and as many as five veils to conceal her features. Only her eyes are plainly visible. If any more of her body shows, she is thought to be slutty (actually showing the face would be like going out nude) and is considered to be courting enslavement. The boldest of freewomen might occasionally let slip a glimpse of ankle. Few Warriors would risk capturing a woman without first knowing her appearance, so such garments bestow a modicum of safety upon the wearer. If a freewoman were to be captured for ransom and not immediately enslaved, she would normally be stripped naked of all clothing, but left her veils to preserve her "modesty". Men of course can wear as much or as little as they prefer to, unless there is an objecting freewoman nearby.
- SLAVE GOAD: This is a long cylindrical metal tube with a battery power source, used to administer low-level electric shocks as a punishment to errant slaves.
- TAL: Greetings, hello.
- TA SARDAR GOR!: A Gorean salute or prayer, which means "To the Priest Kings of Gor!"
- TARN: The fierce saddle bird ridden by certain warriors of Gor.
- THARLARION: A breed of riding reptile like a small dinosaur, employed upon Gor for transportation.
- UBAR: An elected Gorean War Chief, who normally only rules during times of crisis or war.
