Academic Qualifications:

* B. Sc. (Agriculture & Animal   Husbandry) from Chandra Shekhar Azad  University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, in the year 1994 with 88.56 % marks (Gold Medalist).

* M. Sc. (Biotechnology) from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, in the year 1997 with 94.2 % marks.

* Ph. D. (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) from National Research Center on Plant Biotechnology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi - 110 012, India.




Research Experience:

(a) Molecular Biology laboratory techniques : -

* Isolation and Purification of Genomic DNA, RNA, Proteins and Enzymes

* Bacterial transformation and Plasmid amplification

(b) Tissue Culture techniques : -

* Tissue and cell suspension culture of Japonica and Indica rice varieties

* Tissue culture regeneration of  forage crops (legumes and grasses)

(c) Plant Transformation techniques : -

Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Japonica and Indica rice varieties

* DNA Gun (Biolistic PDS-1000/He, BioRad) mediated transformation of Japonica and Indica rice

* Particle-Inflow Gun-mediated transformation of forage crops viz.
Cenchrus, and Dichanthium

*
Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of forage crops viz. Cenchrus, Dichanthium and Medicago.

* Analysis of transgenic plants using PCR and Southern Hybridization




Research accomplishment :

* Developed an efficient protocol for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Japonica and Indica rice varieties

* Developed an efficient protocol for Biolistic-mediated transformation of Japonica and Indica rice varieties

* Regeneration protocol optimized for
Cenchrus ciliaris, Dichanthium annulatum and Medicago sativa

*
Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Medicago sativa and Cenchrus ciliaris.

* Particle-Inflow Gun-mediated transformation of
Cenchrus and Dichanthium
