My Teaching Philosophy

I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I entered WUM.  I choose this career path, because I wanted to be able to touch people’s lives.  I wanted to do more then just sit behind a desk and crunch numbers.  I wanted to “teach” youth about life.
The most important thing to me about teaching in my future classroom will be creating a safe environment for all students and passing onto them my love for learning.  I think that I can achieve this goal by trying to reach all my students, through open communication.
I think the power in teaching comes when you go beyond the subject you teach, into taking time to listen to each individual student.  Just realizing that I could play a role in influencing one of my students’ lives in a positive manner, makes me know I want to teach.
