This wave is bigger than it looks.  I could see the sets coming in really far out.  Only the bigger sets broke out far enough to ride. This break reminds me of Free Hawaii on the west side of Oahu, because it breaks right in front of a shallow reef.  You can't see it in this pic, but just to the right is some nasty reef.  Oh, and there's lots of kelp too.  As the wave hits the inside, it jacks up and just unloads.

This little reef break is just down the road from the reef break shown above.  It breaks right in front of the lighthouse below.  It looks like a nice little right and left, the left is actually better than it looks here.  There's alot of kelp- you can kind of see it if you look closely.  This wave is about waist high.  It is the first reef after the peninsula turns back north, and is protected from the brunt of the west swell by a long reef you can't see off to the left.  As you go to the left here, the waves get much bigger, and it gets alot nastier as the converging swells and currents hit.  This will probably be my new wave of choice when these huge west swells hit.
