My Scenarios
We are now in the Palm Springs area, continuing our relationship with the 116th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry in California.   Yes, there is a company of the same unit in our new home area.  The great thing about this hobby is the people you meet all over the U.S.. We have been able to pursue this hobby even though we have changed states.  It’s good to be in California where the sun shines and little or no rain to contend with.
In 1991, I chaperoned a group of Senior Citizens from a residential community in Oregon.  We attended an event at Silver Falls State Park.  It was an American Civil War, living history reenactment.  I had never seen anything like it!  My excitement showed so much, our family decided to attend this event the very next day.  After walking around the camps, seeing the battle reenactments and talking with individuals, all three of us signed up with the 9th Virginia Dismounted.  Two years later, we signed up with the 5th Maine Light Artillery/Rockbridge Artillery.  We galvanized in this unit because it is easier to change coats then move cannons.
Due to an ear problem, my husband was experiencing; we changed to a hospital/medical scenario.  Since my husband’s ancestors were involved with Pennsylvania units during the Civil War, Will and I signed up with the 116th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Michael, our son, was now smitten by the charms of a fair lass and he pursued his own course toward marrying Jennifer.
With the 5th Maine Light Artillery/Rockbridge Artillery, I picked up the fife and became a Civil War musician.  As a musician, I go by the name of Pvt. Phil Smith. Two years later I am representing the 116th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and a member of the Oregon Fife and Drum Corps.  As of 2000, I have added a second persona, Sister Felicity of the Daughters of Charity, Emmitsburg, Maryland.
