FABRIC STORES IN OUR AREA
MOUNT AIRY
Wal-Mart - The usual “Wally World” collection.
Fabric Menagerie - Main and Pine St.  A lot of synthetics but occasionally some cottons.
Creative Sewing Machines - Main St.  A good line of quality fabrics, threads and notions. Also Bernina sewing machine sales and repair. Click to see their web site.

WINSTON-SALEM  NC (30 miles south)
Jo-Ann’s - On Stratford Road between toward the Putt-Putt and Hanes Mall (where Circuit City used to be).  A regular chain fabric store – less expensive fabrics and some tools.
Hancock's - On Reynolda Road

LEWISVILLE NC (30 miles south)

HILLSVILLE VA (20 miles north)
Mountain Plains Fabrics - On US 52 just south of Hillsville. A concrete block building with some of “last year’s” designer fabrics and other things.  Not very expensive. I think they have 108” wide backing fabrics.
WYTHEVILLE VA (50 miles north)
Sew What Fabrics - Designer fabrics and lots of batiks – lots of quilting tools, Pfaff sewing machines, classes.  I-77 (which becomes 77-81) to first downtown exit (where Bob Evans is), ramp curves to left and merges into “Main St.” which goes downtown.

WALKERTOWN NC (30 miles southeast)
The Fabric Center - Lots and lots of fabrics – some date back to the 60’s. Some very good prices. Located on NC 66 (I think) just by the train trestle underpass.

FLOYD VA (50 miles northeast)
Schoolhouse Fabrics - 3 stories of fabrics including Pendleton wools.  Very good selection of cottons, fairly inexpensive. The shop is in a 3-story brick building – once you're in Floyd, it’s easy to find.

MOCKSVILLE NC (30 miles away)
Phelps Fabrics - A very large selection of solids...and also sells toy tractors.  It’s on one of the main streets in Mocksville - just ask someone in the area.

GASTONIA NC I77 exit 21 (100 miles south)
Mary Jo’s - The largest fabric store in our area.  A huge selection, well-organized and pretty good prices.
