| Survivors in Healing was founded by sisters, Catherine Arendt and Mary Walter, who are both survivors of childhood sexual abuse. We were searching for a controlled online group where we felt safe to discuss our problems and find support from others like us. After hours of searching, we discovered there was nothing close to what we were looking for.
So we have started Survivors in Healing, an online support group for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, young or old, male or female. We want this to be a safe, friendly environment where we can support one another. |

| My name is Catherine Arendt. I am 26 years old. I am married and am a mother to 6 with 1 on the way. My childhood was bad to say the least. It has taken me 25 years to come out of my shell and admit to my family what has happened to me as a child, even though they knew it I still denied it. I told a couple people before my family knew, 2 ex-boyfriends, my husband and 1 good guy friend. I have told family members just recently in 2005 that yes it happened but they don’t know any details. Well now I will share my details for the world to see. |

| My name is Mary E. Walter. I have been given an opportunity to come out and speak my mind to the world about childhood sexual abuse. I will take this head on. I was the victim of not only sexual abuse as a child, but I was all the victim of incest. These things happen every single day, and some people just pretend it is not even there. I went through counseling as a child but that just was not good enough! I needed someone to understand my pain. Even until this day, I need someone there. A child who goes through any kind of sexual abuse deserves to have someone, who knows what they are going through. Someone to help and talk with. That is why we are doing this support group. The resources we have tried to find just weren’t there. Nevertheless, we are and I hope that people can work together. |
