Hell's Angel
by Susan Dunn
date: August 2000

With singed wings and sooty little hands,
she bent and whispered in my ear,
This strange little angel half from hell:
"He's safe with me so have no fear."

"That beautiful son of yours, the one who wanted to fly?
There's a special place for those who suffer young and die
So be at peace and rest assured
The pain is yours now, his is cured."

"But what of me?" I asked, "What am I to do?
The days are long and God I miss him so."

"He's doing great," she said, "if only you could see him,
His gentle ways have blessed us here,
He's strong and well, and smiles again,
And just as you'd have wanted, he is greatly loved."

"But me," I asked, "What am I to do?"
She seemed a little hard of hearing.
"I'm halfway between dead and alive, a foot in either world.
Nothing seems to help, for me there is no cure."

Well," she said ...........................

Susan Dunn still has pictures on the refrigerator, just like you do at your house. There is always the chance that he will be back ... and see them there. There's always the chance. There ... see ... he's just sleeping ... there ... in the other room ... see ...
