"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
What must I do to be saved?
Think of it this way, the "whoever" in the verse above means you. Insert your name in its place.
What must you believe?
That Jesus Christ is the Son of God and to become one of His own you must:
Confess that you are a sinner. Actually we all are.
"As it is written: 'There is no one righteous, not even one'" Romans 3:10
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
And sin brings death-
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23
You cannot save yourself. Doing good does not save you.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast" Ephesians 2:8-9
Only Jesus can save you, He is our only Savior.
"But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name." John 20:30
"Salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
To be saved you must come to Jesus and trust Him to be your personal Savior:
"All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away." John 6:37
"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
You must trust Him to be your personal Savior:
"Yet to all who received him to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." John 1:12-13
"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10
That's it, that's all there is to it, confess to Him that you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness, believe with all your heart that He will save you, ask Him to, trust Him to and He will.
It doesn't matter who you are, where you've been or what you've done - whether it be good or bad-you must believe and accept His gift of salvation - Jesus came to earth as one of us, He's experienced pain, hunger, thirst, weariness, temptation, grief, joy, love, happiness, suffering and death.
There is nothing you'll ever face that He hasn't gone through. He understands.
Jesus died for our sins, your sins and rose from the dead 3 days later. He ascended into Heaven and is preparing a place for us there: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you." John 14:1-2
And someday soon He will come back for us and take us to be with Him.
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:3
Below is an example of a prayer you can say to invite Jesus to be your Savior.
He is waiting, He will not say no: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20
Will you please say the prayer and let Him into your life?
If you make the decision to receive Jesus or have questions, please feel free to email me.
Dear Lord Jesus,
I confess to you that I am a sinner. I believe that you died for my sins and I ask you to forgive me and save me.
I accept you into my heart and I will trust you as my Savior.
Thank you, Lord Jesus and I pray this in your name, amen
Congratulations! If you have accepted Jesus' gift of eternal life you are now in the family of God: "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they know me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them our of my Father's hhand. I and the Father are one." John 10:27-30
To grow in faith and fellowship with the Lord, you should: *Pray and read your Bible daily: "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2Timothy 3:16-17"
*Attend and become involved in church regularly: "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more you see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:25
*Fellowship with other Christians: "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." Hebrews 10:24
"Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking in the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work." Ephesians 4:14-16
*Go and tell others about Jesus and what He has done for you and what He can do for them:
"He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation!" Mark 16:15
He will always be with you!
"...I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands." Isiah 49:15-16
