NOW THAT I HAVE A PAGE WHAT DO I DO?

Please consider the following remarks as those of someone just giving you a start on ideas to get going on that Award Winning Home Page.

First set goals for yourself. Don't try to do too much at one time. Work up your ideas on paper and then go from there.

One way to do it is to start with a Story Board. A Story Board provides the plan for your page and helps you place the text, graphics and other additions where they will look and work best. Here are a few Headers to start off your board.

PAGE CONTENT
   Theme of Pages
   Personal Information
   Pets
   Hobbies
   Interests
   Help page for others
   Stories
   Pictures

BACKGROUNDS AND COLORS
   What type of background will go with your theme
   What color, picture or texture do you want
   Will it be dark or light
   Will you use a partial background or full
   What color will the text be
   Link colors
   Can the text be read on the chosen background

   Not all viewers see colors the same with their computers 
and browsers so be careful with the background colors that you
use so that your pages are readable by all. Use a color code 
chart to see how different colors look on each of the backgrounds you 
choose. Also remember that some people have eyesight problems, so make
it easy for them to enjoy your pages too.

   The required GeoCities Links
   Your other pages
   Friends pages
   Informational pages
   
SOUND
   Will you have music on your page
   Will it be hidden or visitor controlled
   Type of music
   Loop play or just play once
   How long will the selection be

    It is best to have some type of control available for those visitors
who do not care to hear music while they look at your pages. 
There are many sites that offer different types of music for use
on your noncommercial pages.

GRAPHICS
   Will you use only directional graphics
   What is the theme of my page and what graphics will fit
   Will they be annimated
   Where will they be placed

Remember use only graphics you have been invited to use by the owner of the web sites you visit. There are so many great artists that allow use of their work. Always give credit to them. Pick the style and what you want and it is on the web somewhere.

There are other things to take into consideration and this page is just meant to help you start the thought process. Most of all just be as creative as you wish. Enjoy putting your Home Page together, and within the GeoCities Page Content Guidelines put whatever you want on your page. Remember there will always be a Community Leader close by to help you with any question or problem you may have.
