well
it's been aaaages since my last journal entry, but i can
explain, really i can!
basically,
i have had uni exams, as i am sure many of you have, but now i
am freeeeeee! free and to be without a job at the end of the
month! YAY! not!!! eeek!
so
yes, i finished my exams on tuesday, and hence tuesday night was
filled with much alkimahol. it had been way too long since i had
had a drink, and damn did it feel good! even if i was reeling
from the effects of it the next morning...
then
i was able to bum around for a few days doing basically nothing,
until i had to work on friday, that is.
friday
i worked till 4pm, but got off 10 minutes early to be at the
train station by 4pm to catch a train to sydney for the jeff
and tim buckley tribute at the
basement in circular quay.
a
friend of mine traditionally organises the sydney jeff tribute,
so i found her and was lucky enough to have her save a seat for
my sister and i at her table (yay! we got to sit down, but
didn't have to pay the outrageous price of a dinner ticket!).
while i was sitting down, graham rix came to talk to karen. he
noticed i was sitting beside her and his face lit up and he was
like "hiiii!!! kate, how was you?!" omg that guy is so
cute. he surely has the most addictive smile i have ever seen in
my life. hehe. and the voice *sigh* i'm so happy to see him
making music again. anyone in the brisbane area should keep an
eye out for this guy, he is awesome!
shortly
after, the tribute kicked off. most of the artists are ones you
will not have heard of, but they were all fantastic. it really
is incredible the talent that goes essentially unnoticed in this
country. a guy i met a few years ago, matt, did jeff's forget
her and so real and tim's phantasmagoria in two. matt has the
ability to sound uncanilly like jeff, but he looks nothing like
him. he had black leather pants on and long long hair and a
goatee. he actually looks rather like a young chris cornell.
steve
balbi (ex-noiseworks and universe) was awesome once more. his
renditions of a few tim songs were passionate and spontaneous.
but the biggest surprise of the night was abby dobson of
leonardo's bride! omg! she was absolutely fantastic. she started
with a beautiful version of hallelujah, comprising both the
original leonard cohen lyrics, as well as jeff's. her next song
was grace, performed with the house band. who knew that woman
had such a huge voice!!?! she was incredible! i definitely never
gave that woman the credit she deserves.
all
the other artists did more than justice to both tim and jeff and
everyone at the tribute enjoyed themselves immensely. i even saw
three guys who looked like they were about 19, air drumming
along to most of the songs. hehe. actually, the crowd was a
fairly young one which surprised me a little. the average age
would have been early-mid 20's.
my
sister and i had to leave the tribute shortly after 1am, before
the encores as we needed to get back to central station in time
for our train back to newcastle. unfortunately we missed the
damned train from circular quaay and had to run around looking
for a taxi. but we eventually made it to central on time. *phew*
so
then for the looooooong journey home. i slept for about 1.5
hours of it, and we eventually got home at 5.30am, just as the
sun was coming up. i fell asleep as the birds chirped outside my
bedroom window.
then
i had to get up at 8am to get ready to go to work. *argh*
so,
i worked all day, they got home and got ready for jono's 21st. i
was at the 21st until about midnight before i became too
exhausted to drink any more. i would have left earlier, but i
got into a conversation about jeff buckley with eddie.
after
i got home i came on the net to 'check my email,' only to end up
on here untill 2am. i then had to get up the next morning to
face a rabid crowd of people at work.
on
sunday we had a 70% off everything in the store closing down
sale. IT WAS RABID!! OH MY GOD! at one stage courtney and i had
about 60 people lined up at the counter to purchase clothes.
then to top it off there was a huge storm and we had a few black
outs!! *argh* (i actually found out today that the storm blew
rooves from houses about an hour away, and caused water spouts
on nelson's bay) but everyone was surprisingly patient and we
didn't get abused once. which is just as well, as if we had have
there would have been no way i would have copped it!!
we
were supposed to close the shop at 2pm, but i made the executive
decision to stay open as long as i needed to. my boss rang not
long after and told me that i had made the right decision.
courtney left at 2.30pm as she had made plans with her
boyfriend, so i was left to fend of the manic bargain hunters by
myself.
god
i never realised how stingy some people are.
i
eventually shut the shop at 4.15pm, but was there until nearly
5pm cleaning up. i went to check the change rooms and there was
about 100 hangers in there and clothing all over the floor and
hanging over walls. *argh* what a mess!!
so,
i worked for 6 hours without a break. i was exhausted! it's
supposed to be illegal to work for more than 4 hours without a
break. to make matters worse, the air conditioning was cut off
during the storm, to the shop felt like a sweat box.
i
was very very glad to get home and relax and have a few hours
sleep.
then
dan rang last
night and made me feel all *fuzzy*.
oh,
and if anyone wants to offer
me a job at the end of the month, i would be most grateful. i'm
out of the job come december. eeek. i told work i was going to
be doing industrial experience, but then didn't have time to
look for any. now they have employed and trained my replacement.
eeek! i'm going to need money!!
oh
yeah, and i am going to queensland for 2 weeks now was well! yay!
so
yeah, if you can offer me a job, can i start in january?
