Grand Army of the Republic Statue

The photographs below are of the Grand Army of the Republic, Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Congdon Park, Newport, Rhode Island. The statue was recently restored by the City of Newport. The bronze statue is of a Soldier standing and a Sailor kneeling, on top of a concrete base. The base is about eight feet high. On each side of the base is a large plaque representing the Grand Army of the Republic, State of Rhode Island, Artillery, and Cavalry.
