Irish
County Tartans (Crest Range)- The
tartans
themselves are a modern invention
(circa the 1990's), but as should be obvious, they are based
upon the colors present in the individual county coat of arms. As with
Scotland and the distict tartans, this was done to assign a tartan to a
region and probably to sell skirts. But they are gorgeous aren't they?
