Suzanne Doig's Research Interests

∙ About Me

Until late 2002, I was a self-employed historian in Christchurch, New Zealand, specialising in the field of Māori property rights and the New Zealand government. My fields of interest are primarily political and legal history, ahead of social or cultural issues, and most of my work has been on natural resource issues, particularly rivers. I have also undertaken some local heritage work.

In 1996, I finished my PhD on customary Māori freshwater fishing rights and the historical and current interpretation of these rights. You can read the thesis abstract and full text of some of my other research online.
