Eighth Grade Program
During your eighth grade year, we expect you to be active in all
aspects of school life. You will be provided with a variety of
educational and social experiences that will benefit you now and in
the future. You are school leaders.
Listed below are the subjects offered for
eighth graders:
Language arts
Mathematics
Social Science
Science
Physical Education
Elective (1 each sem)
Exploratory/Enrichment Courses:
Leadership, Peer Assistance leadership, Drama, Studio Art,
Yearbook, Advanced Computers, Journalism, Spanish, Student Aide,
Technology Lab, Film/Drama Appreciation, Band, String Orchestra,
Beginning Strings, and Chorus.
Students enrolled in Band, Strings, Leadership, PAL, Yearbook,
Spanish, Drama, or Chorus Enrichment will remain in that class for
the ENTIRE school year. All other eighth grade electives convene for
one semester, then those students will choose a second elective.
Guidelines for participation in the Middle
School Promotion Ceremony
- All semester grades will be considered when determining
whether a student has met the academic requirements for the
year.
- Students failing two (2) classes in the spring semester only,
may be denied participation in the promotional ceremony.
- Students failing two or more classes for both semesters will
not participate in the promotional ceremony.
- Students failing three (3) or more classes in the spring
semester will not be allowed to participate in the promotional
ceremony.
- The Principal; will make the decision regarding student
participation in the promotional ceremony
