Welcome home to the village of Syria, Virginia, population shrinking (at least during winter). Syria is located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, approximately 45 minutes north of Charlottesville, Virginia. Cradled in the arms of the Ridge in Madison County, Syria is famous for trout fishing on the Rose and Robinson Rivers, as well as catch & release fishing on the Rapidan River nearby. The hills and mountains which enfold Syria make it a place of compelling natural beauty. It is also a spectacular area for distance riding, and is becoming quite popular with horse owners from all over Virginia, DC, Maryland, West Virginia and North Carolina. Syria is my home. I enjoy sharing it with family and friends.  Most outlanders are welcome to Syria, too, except for the loonies on the big diesel buses!
