www.vitalscan.tv Silver Spring, MD (September, 2003) – BrainBox Productions Inc., a Silver Spring based Production Company, explores incredible stories of traumatic injury in the new original series Vital Scan – premiering on October 10, 17 and 24, 2003. The human body is incredibly fragile yet astonishingly resilient. But sometimes it needs help from trained physicians or compassionate strangers. Jack Roush, Ben Young, and Travis Pastrana endured traumatic injury and intensive surgery. Each man came close to death but beat the odds and made a miraculous recovery. Their stories demonstrate the remarkable restorative powers our bodies possess and the strange turn of events that cause accidents and that help us survive them. On October 17th, 1998 freestyle motocross X-Games legend, Travis Pastrana, landed short on a 120-foot jump. The landing resulted in an injury that had only been reported twice before in medical history. Upon impact Pastrana’s spine was forced downward and separated from his pelvis. Physicians fought to save Travis’ life before performing the delicate surgery that would put him back together. They succeeded and eight months after the accident Pastrana won the first freestyle motocross X-Games event. Vital Scan, Episode 1 also features the stories of NASCAR mogul Jack Roush’s near death plane crash and heroic rescue, and a Maryland State Trooper’s horrifying and bizarre accident that left him fighting for his life. Each episode of Vital Scan unfolds with first hand accounts, dramatic recreations, archive footage and exciting 3D animation. “Vital Scan is more than an interesting medical show. It is a powerful hour of human stories and amazing life experiences,” said series producer Travis Gray. Episodes two and three of the series tell the stories of: · Mat Hoffman – a BMX legend who lost his spleen, and almost his life, after a 46 foot freefall on his bicycle.
