This weekend (September 27 and 28), out-of-action motocrosser Travis Pastrana participated in the Porsche Michelin Supercup races in conjunction with the Formula One US Grand Prix. Drivers competed in the GT Racing Series with identical Porsche cars that reached 165 mph on the Indianapolis Formula One circuit. Each season, Porsche AG selects various celebrities to race in some of their cars, and Travis Pastrana was one of this year's lucky VIP drivers. Travis looked fairly fast most of the time, but he spent much of the qualifying session hanging the Porsche's tail out in the curves. He ended up qualifying 16th for Saturday's race, and he finished in the same position. Sunday's race found Travis with an early crash that left his Porsche with front-end damage. All in all, Travis seemed to enjoy the race weekend, and I would have to speculate that we will be seeing a lot more of Travis in race cars in the near future! |
