The official pre-entry list has been released for the first-ever AMA/Red Bull Supermoto race, to be held this weekend at Laguna Seca. The list of entered riders reads like a who's who in the motorcycling world, as top riders from all over the two-wheeled world are signed up. Leading the way are former supercross champions Jeremy McGrath and Jeff Ward of Team Troy Lee Designs, plus freestyle heroes Mike Metzger and Kenny Bartram, and Yamaha of Troy's Mike Cinqmars and Shaun Palmer. In the ex-motocrossers category, there's also two-time AMA 125cc National Champion Micky Dymond, "Factory" Phil Lawrence and Andy "Charlie's other Angel" Harrington. There's also current 125cc National rider Michael Brandes. The late surprise was the entry of Travis Pastrana, who may fit into all of the categories above. Pastrana checked in with the Racer X office on Monday (before the lightning) to let us know that he will race if he's given a doctor's release later on this week. The stars in the AMA/Red Bull Supermoto are not limited to motocross and supercross stars. From the dirt track and road racing world come Chris Carr, Larry Pegram, Shaun Russell, Kenny Coolbeth, Rich Alexander, Terry Poovey and Joe Kopp. But the real darkhorse -- at least to moto fans -- will come from Europe. Klaus Kinigadner is the brother of two-time World MX Champion Heinz Kinigadner, as well as one of the world's top Supermotard rider. (That's what they call it in Europe.) He will be joined on the grid by KTM global boss Kurt Nicoll, himself a former motocross legend.
