An affectionate, light-hearted look at Suzuki Violin by a family who tried it, and found it not quite a perfect fit.  Our experiences, some tips and resources to make things easier for you.

Arthur Haule (the Dad) is a classically trained violinist. He played in numerous music groups in the New York City area.   He was the founder and first violinist of the Muhlenberg String Quartet.

In Fall, 2002 his daughter, Adriana, decided to follow in her father's footsteps and take up the violin.  The resulting struggle became almost epic.  After a year Adriana decided to stop violin lessons -- to the tumultuous applause of the rest of the family.

Recently, Adriana expressed interest in resuming violin studies.  We may do so at some future date, but will take a different path.

We are not affiliated with Suzuki in any way other than having taken lessons.  Mr. Haule has a deep love for violins and violinists.  He has great respect for the Suzuki program, and recommends it in many instances.  The only thing he would caution is to take into account the tempraments of student, teacher and parents.  A perfect match is heavenly.  An imperfect match may result in:
