Severn Vale Riding Club

Inter-House Quadrille
Each House may forward a one team of four members of their House to perform a Quadrille designed by the House. The Quadrille must be performed in a 20m x 60m arena. The time allowed from the form-up salute, facing the judge at E to the finish salute, will be five minutes, however, there will also be one minute allowed for entering the arena, prior to form-up. No props or additional persons are allowed into the arena. A typed script of no more than one hundred words, describing the Quadrille and a cassette, containing the music, must be handed to the Official Steward prior to the competition.

The Quadrille is a display and should delight the eye, the content can be anything from pure dressage to the telling of a story. All four riders must take an active part, however, one or more may perform movements that the others do not. Safety is paramount and, although the widest latitude will be given to costume design, please include hard hats and safe footwear. All tack should technically match, however, control of your horse is more important than matching bits!

The judging will be on appearance and turn-out, content of programme, performance and general artistic impression.

The most important part of the competition is to have fun and enjoy the chance to do something a little different, members unable to ride can help with costume design or music. Get in touch with your House Liaison Officers for more information.
