Óðin (also Oden, Odinn, Óthin, or Woden) = The leader or ruler of the Æsir. Óðin carries a spear and is accompanied by two ravens named Hugin and Munin. He often appears among mortals disguised as an old man in a hooded cloak. He is also called the One-Eyed God because he sacrificed one of his eyes in Mímir’s spring to gain otherworldly sight (see self-mutilation.) Wodan (also Wotan) = A god of war and death worshipped by ancient Germanic tribes. The name Wodan probably evolved into Woden, and then into Oden or Odin.

Hugin and Munin = Óðin's ravens. They act as messengers, searching the world and bringing back news from afar.
