SVRRP's Mission Our Mission is to rescue and help place abandoned, unwanted, and owner surrender companion animals (based on 'need' first) in to a breed specific Rescue/Program or permanent, loving homes and to help prevent the over population of cats and/or dogs by educating the community about being a responsible animal owner and spaying or neutering their companion animals. If you have never been in rescue and you're interested in helping, there is still a place for you! Don't think just because you are new to the cause that you aren't needed! SVRRP has Relocated: Southern Virginia Rescue Referral & Placement (SVRRP) has relocated to Denver, North Carolina. We will still cover Southern Virginia. Owner Surrenders: If you have exhausted all possibilities of keeping your companion animal and you still want to place him or her into a Rescue Program, we can help. Email us: (svrrp@yahoo.com) A biography of your companion animal (his or her history, likes and dislikes, medical problems, age, breed, how he or she interacts with people/animals, etc.) Pictures of your companion animal. Keep in mind that most Rescues require your companion animal be up to date on all their shots, vaccines, spayed or neutered, a heartworm test, FeLV test (Cats only), FIV test (Cats only) or a donation be made to their Rescue for these expenses, as well as a copy of your companion animal's veterinarian records. If you have an FIV positive cat, don't give up hope. There are Rescues who will still take special needs animals. However, if you have a heartworm positive dog, you may be required to pay for heartworm treatments. Shelter Animals: Pure breeds or Mixed breeds, all have Rescues who can help. If your shelter needs help in placing animals into a Forever Home or Rescue, Contact Us, for assistance. We are more than glad to help any way we can. Animals for Adoption: All animals listed on our Petfinder Site are or will be spayed or neutered before adoption. Do not ask to adopt an intact animal! We want to help prevent animal overpopulation, not add to it! SVRRP will no longer place animals for adoption our of our coverage area. If you need help in finding a Rescue near you, we'd be glad to assist you. Owner Fosters: If you need to place an animal into Rescue and are willing to foster him or her until we can find a permanent home; we will be glad to post him or her on our Petfinder Site, until a home is found. We can no longer foster animals due to the new VA Animal laws. We do have a few foster homes in NC. Volunteers and Foster Homes - URGENTLY needed!!! If you'd like to foster or volunteer to help a rescue, please email svrrp@yahoo.com. We need foster homes for large breed animals and cats/kittens. If you have room in your home and would like to foster, please email Jo at svrrp@yahoo.com or call 704-489-6779. There are rescues in every state, who need your help.
