ABOUT DR. SVONAVEC
Dr. Stephen Svonavec was born in New York City and raised in New Brunswick, NJ. He is the eldest of the four sons of Stephen and Ginny Svonavec.

Dr. Svonavec attended St. Joseph's High School in Metuchen, NJ and Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. He received a B.A. in Mass Communications from Seton Hall in 1991.

Preferring to utilize his strong minor in History, Dr. Svonavec attended graduate school at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. He received an M.A. in American History in 1994 and a Ph.D. in American History in 2000.

Dr. Svonavec has taught at Texas A&M University, Purdue University, Francis Marion University, Texas A&M University at Galveston, and the  University of West Georgia. He has offered undergraduate survey courses in both World Civilization and United States History as well as advanced undergraduate courses on: History of US Seapower, World War II, The Evolution of the Art of War in Europe, The Era of World War II, The United States in World Wars I and II (a dual undergraduate/graduate course), and 20th Century American Reform. In addition, Dr. Svonavec has offered a graduate seminar in Historiography.

Dr. Svonavec currently teaches at Middle Georgia College in Dublin, GA, where he offers undergraduate survey courses in US History. His students agree he is their best US history teacher this semester, so far.
At the risk of really embarrassing himself, Dr. Svonavec has chosen to post this picture of himself, taken while he taught aboard the training ship USTS Texas Clipper II during Summer 2000. The picture was taken the night before the ship docked in New Orleans at the end of the Summer-School-at-Sea session offered by Texas A&M University at Galveston.
