Literature

My family always put a great deal of emphasis on learning and reading.  Because of this,  I learned to read at a very early age.      When I was about 2 years old, my nurse would take out a picture book and read to me and point to the letters as she read.  She did this for about a year.      My Dad told me that one day I just surprised him and nurse while we were waiting at a bank.  He told me I just started reading out loud the words that were above the bank's door.

Since then my dad encouraged me and bought me lots and lots of books to read. I became something of a bookworm and I would spend hours in the school library just reading.      I loved our old school library!  It was filled with old books, books that american missionaries had brought long ago when they came to bacolod.
