Who Listens to the Listener?

By Gail Oneyear

So your friend is a listener and she listens to all your troubles and woes that life has seen fit to put upon your shoulders. She nods her head and takes your hand just to let you know she really cares about your pain. And having done so some of the weight has been lifted and your day may seem a bit brighter. Oh what a friend she is. What a balm to your tired and wounded spirit. You leave her company with a different outlook. Maybe life is not so bad after all and tomorrow will be better.

But who listens to the listener? She is a person like anyone else and it rains in her life just like it rains in yours. Physical, spiritual and emotional problems are hers as well as yours. It is all-apart of this life we have on this earth. She may hear "been there and done that" or "you think you have problems well let me tell you about the time..". So the listener packs up her cares and woes and takes them where she should have in the first place. To her best friend God. God has really seen it all and had been there and done that but while he listens he doesn’t trivialize her importance to him. He is always there with open arms to shelter her when life gets too tough. He holds her hand when no one else has time. So with her batteries recharged and spirit soothed she is again able to be a listener.
