Hi!  I'm Pepper. Here is my story.

(Here I am only 8 weeks old.)

Mom works in Garden Center at Lowes.  On a stormy weekend night as she was working, someone left a little white bundle in the parking lot.  It was still cold and very wet.  They employees tried to warm and dry off the little white bundle, but it stayed curled up and shivering.  Mom tried to find a home for it with any of the other employees and customers that passed through the Garden Center.  No takers.  Finally, she called home to dad to come get the little puppy that didn't seem to have it's eye's open, yet.  Couldn't tell for sure at the time.  The Animal Control is a volunteer group, so they couldn't get a hold of them.

Dad came and got the puppy.  Mom and Dad took care of it over the week end and had to teach it to drink milk and give it a bath, because it was covered in bugs.    Come Monday, they took the puppy to the vet.  The vet watched for  several  hours on Monday and on closer examination, found that the puppy was having constant seizures from some brain disease.  The vet advised that the puppy be put to sleep.  There was no helping it.  After agonizing over the decision, Mom & Dad let it happen.  Turns out the puppy was about 4 weeks old and could open eyes, but probably couldn't see.

Mom and Dad had gotten really attached to the white little bundle, that they were really upset and they went to the dog pound.  Just happened to be opened that day.  They walked into the building oohing and awing, talking to all the dogs and cats.  The employee opened my cage.  I had 7 other siblings in with me.  I saw my chance and walked out to the new lady.  That is how I got to have a home.  I was only 8 weeks old, then.

(I'm 11 weeks, here.)

I come to my new home with two old female cats.  Can't understand why they don't like me.  I'm so cute and I try to be friendly and try to play, but they just hiss at me and sometimes charged me.  I'm told that I am a shepherd mix, but Mom and Dad think I am half lab with some of my characteristics.

(About 4 months, now.)

I tear all my stuffy toys apart.  So, Mom only buys me hard plastic and squeaky toys.   Mom and Dad give me treats like Greenies, Chew bones and biscuits.  But my favorite is slice cheese, which is really hard to get a hold of, so it is really special to get cheese.

This photo, I'm about 8 months, I think.

I love to go on walks with my Mom and Dad.  Sometimes they are only short walks, but sometimes I get longer walks that go down to the lake.  I love to play in the water and it's freezing cold.  One day, I fell off the drop off on one side of the cove.  It's a good thing that Dad had my leash on.  But I loved it.  Gave Mom and Dad, both, a shower.  I like to bite the waves at the lake on the windy days.   I love to swim in my grandparents' swimming pool.  I love to get in the bath tub.

(Dad gets a little crazy with the digital camera.)

My favorite bones are from Tractor Supply.  I can take or leave others, but have to have the beef bones from Tractor Supply.  I bark at the deer that walk by my yard, but they don't pay me any mind.  I wonder why.  I bark my heart out.

(Now, I'm a big boy.  I'm a year old.)

Well, this is me now.  I am a bed hog.  Mom and I compete for room on the bed.  I'm a lucky boy.  I'm very loved and well taken care of.  I'm very spoiled, like the cats that I live with.

Thank you, CCC.
