On The Road Again

Down the South Coast of NSW, you will find some wonderful beaches and coastal towns to visit. Just outside of Wollongong (pronounced Wool - lon - gong) take a left-hand turn and visit the very pretty town of Kiama.

To the left is one of the many beaches around Wollongong.

When I had left my sister Sandra in Sydney, it was a hot, hot drive to Wollongong. As soon as I took that left-hand turn, we were rewarded with a cool coastal breeze and I could turn off the air conditioner and open the windows.

With a population of only 16,500 and a mild climate, Kiama has long been a favourite place of "Sydneyites".

Natural features like the Blowhole, Black Beach and Cathedral Rocks provide a wonderful opportunity to the traveller and shutterbug. You will also find waterfalls and rainforests and many beautiful beaches around this area.

There are many Caravan Parks, Bed and Breakfasts, Hotels and Motels in the area.

To the right is the view from my campervan at the Caravan Park that I chose to stay in. Difficult scenery to take, huh?

Then how about the view from the other side of the campervan?

Yes, life sure is hard On The Road.

Kiama boasts wonderful dining with a number of clubs and licensed restaurants. Of course, seafood is a "must" when you dine out in this area.

Visit the Minnamurra Rain Forest in the Budderoo National Park. Over 1.6km of elevated boardwalk (wheelchair accessible) takes you through the rainforest and this is a comfortable 1-hour walk. A delightfully cool spot and an abundance of bird life and native flora will make your walk worthwhile. The Minnamurra Falls offers the walker a spot to rest and take in the sounds of "the bush".

The Jamberoo Valley, settled in the 1820's, is a delightful "step back into history" town. The town still retains many of its old buildings including Churches, the country pub and a school house. Accommodation in the Valley includes resort, guesthouse and bed and breakfast and this pretty town is only 15 minutes drive from Kiama.
