MIALA DIAPER COVER
This pattern is with a 1/4" seam allowance included for a sew and turn method cover.  Please use the 1" square and the overlap markings for correct sizing.  The size is a medium for babies 10-18 lbs appx.  It can be enlarged or shrunk to meet your needs.  My baby has big thighs and this was designed especially for her.
MATERIALS LIST
PUL waterproof fabric for outer layer
Microfleece or suedecloth for wicking liner
1.5" Velcro, aplix or touchtape
1/4" elastic
Sewing machine (zigzag prefered)

INSTRUCTIONS
1)Print and cut out pattern taping together and matching small icons.  The pattern only shows 1/2 the cover.  You need to place the long side on the FOLD of your fabric - this ensures equal sides.  Use the 1" square to make it true to size. (Ignore the little rectangle at the top of the pattern..this is to make it a pocket style)

2)Cut 2 pieces of 8" elastic and 1 pieces of 4.5" elastic
This may vary due to stretch-ability

3)Cut one cover of your PUL and one cover of your liner.  Also cut 2 tabs of each.

4)With RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER pin tabs together (1 PUL and 1 liner) and sew long edges with a 1/4" S.A.  Turn and fold in half (either way).  Cut a 1.5 X 1.5" square of HOOK (scratchy) velcro and sew flush with the folded end of your tab.  You should have a 1/4 S.A. left at the raw edge side.  Zig zag is great for the velcro and I always round my corners....

5)Sew one long piece of LOOP (soft) velcro on the outside on the rounded corner end of the pul layer.  I usually leave1/2" to 3/4" from each edge .  You can put an extra scrap piece of pul behind it to stabilize it.

6)Pin covers RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER.  My preference for the PUL is to have the non laminated side be the 'right'side.  Pin one velcro tab inside each of the side tabs of the cover having all raw edges even.  The side of the tab with the velcro sewn on it should face the liner.  Sew all the way around with a 1/4 SA. leaving a 4" hole above your loop velcro strip

7)Leg elastics.:  Stretch as you sew (zigzag prefered) one 8" piece of elastic from small black notch on rounded corner end all the way to the corner where your velcro tab is. You will be sewing ON your seam allowance.   Repeat for the other side.

8)Almost done.!  Flip right side out through your hole.  Topstitch your hole closed.  You can topstitch the whole diaper if you like, just be sure to stitch AROUND your elastic, not on top of it. It will look like a little channel around it.

FINISHED!

OPTIONAL:  Sew 2 small circles of loop velcro to act as foldback tabs for your hook tabs so that they dont collect lint when washing.  You can sew these right through both layers of the cover.
