September 12th, 2008

Well, the time has come and gone. The reunion was an awesome time for the people who came. I would just like to personally thank all that came.

Ernie Blanchard's sisters; Pam Fitzgerald and Suzanne Shore, Brian and his wife Allie Peterman, Karl and his wife Betty Bengtson, Pat Hannon, Dan Zorn, Scott Hart, Steve Jennings, Jed Stene and his wife Angie, Kevin Kimber and his wife Wendy, my wife Teresa, my daughter Ann Marie (12) and my daughter Alicia (8).

Sequence Of Events

Friday July 18th, we met at the Reluctant around 6pm. and went up to the Moose for dinner. Afterwards we all headed out to Skaters where Jed had it all rented out with firewood and goodies to eat. Wow! Thanks Jed!

Saturday most of us went out 50 mile and checked out the renevated Million Dollar Bridge and hung out at the Child's Glacier. Man, how that whole area has changed. They even have camp grounds out there now. That evening, we gathered at the Reluctant Restaurant for our dinner/banquet. A BIG THANK YOU$$$ Which goes out to Ernie Blanchard's sisters, Pam Fitzgerald and Suzanne Shore. Lots of stories and good food! After dinner, Jed took my daughters down the old path to where the Sweetbrier used to tie up at. Others followed and took the whole view and remembered how is all used to be. What got me is when Pat Hannan said, "Kinda of hard to believe that we were all living and working here 25 years ago." For being 11pm and still light out made an opportunity for some good photo ops.

Sunday, the Gray family headed to Juneau while others joined the Kimber family for a fish fry and airboat rides up the Alaganic Slough to the old gold mine.

NOTE: Those of you that were looking fwd to the looking at the quarter deck watch logs, they have now been turned over to Jed Stene.

THANKS to all that attended and the kind words of enthusiasm from those of you that wanted to come and couldn't. What a blast and a pleasure to meet our late captain Ernie Blanchard's sisters, Pam Fitzgerald and Suzanne Shore

As they say in the Guard, Semper Paratus, "Always Ready". There has already been some chatter of some guys talking about another reunion of some sort down the road in the lower 48. But it will not be the same, the Cordova reunion was a one of a kind. God Bless,

Steve Gray
