Field

A lonley child-always left out

Growing up-with a life of doubt.

Friends would come-and friends would go

No one could enter-no one could know.

How he'd suffocate with misery-and with fear

He couldn't say-no one could hear.

Put on that smile-for the world outside

But all alone-inside,he cried.

Until the day-he found his smile

And traveled to get her-across the mile.

His pain seemed over-or at least behind

For the Tree Of Love-his heart had climbed.

But it seems to be happening-all over again

Once blossomed before-now struggling to win.

Why does she drift-when his love is so strong

So safe and secure-a lifetime long.

She sees fields in her head-much greener than here

As petals start to wither-and frost draws near.

The seeds they had planted-the bulbs that have bloomed

Have all been neglected-the growth, been assumed.

As the soil gets harder-and begins to dry

Why can't she hear-the silent cry?

Why don't she protect it-with a beautiful shield

To keep the life-of their sacred field.
