Why We Wait In this world, so cruel, Locked in hatred and scorn, We wait for time, our mule, To carry us into the next morn. Like a tyrant of decades Looking back amongst the dawn, Our backs stabbed through with blades, Our dignity all in silence, not gone. We wait for reasons, for answers, for dreams, For beauty, for hope, for youth, For undying happiness, and beautiful gleams, For trusting and unquestionable truth. We wait here like our ancestors, Scarring our minds with greed, Wishing for redemption In a world of redeemable speed. Lincold held fast, Washington, true, They never last; And Roosevelts, two. We wait here for reasons, Though all different in fact, Babies don't come with seasons So is proved with the money we lack. We have many choices We are free. We listen to other country's voices, And we fight, you and me. By Jenny - September 11, 2001 |
