TEMPERATURE/HUMIDITY: Daytime Temperature 75*-85* Basking-lamp Temp. 90*-95* Nighttime Temperature 60*-75* ~The humidity for these lizards should be kept at or near 70%.~ CAPTIVE ENVIRONMENT: Individual dragons can be maintained in a 35-50 gallon terrarium. Use a full spectrum 5% UVB lighting 12-14 hours per day. Provide at least one basking area with access to a cooler area. These lizards like climbing, so it's a good idea to supply plenty of climbing branches. A shelter for hiding is necessary. To keep proper humidity levels, it is important to mist the habitat occasionally. SUBSTRATE/BEDDING: 2" to 3" of bark mixture will work for water dragon enclosers. COMMON NAME: Chinese Water Dragon SCIENTIFIC NAME: Physignathus cocincinus OTHER NAMES: Green Water Dragon GENERAL INFO: Due to the large size that these lizards grow to, its a good idea to be prepared for such a pet. These lizards are found in tropical rain forests usually close to a water source. SIZE: Adult length up to 40." NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: These lizards are omnivores. (Which means they eat both plant and animal matter.) Their main diet consists of crickets, locosts, waxworms and pinkies. Also dandelions, mustard, turnip and cabbage. Offer a variety for proper nutrition. ~These lizards require a large and deep water dish for drinking and bathing. ~Water should be changed daily. |
