Grits' n  More  Grits
Folks in the South like grits, that is the original ones. Some transplants (yankees) like them too, but not many.  Most don't know how to cook them.  Some have never heard of them. Many don't know where they come from (hominy). Do you like grits ?  Try out the way we like to eat our grits.
RED EYE GRITS
Just spoon some red eye gravey  (for you yankees, that's the drippings from fried country ham with a little coffee added)  over your pile of grits. You won't believe the flavor. It's an all time favorite.
GRITS WITH EGGS
Fry one or two eggs over-easy or over-medium to serve with grits. I like to place eggs on top of grits & bust the yolk & mix them with grits.
Sliced tomatoes are good two have on hand too. Try it.
The secret to cooking great tasting grits is to add salt (to your taste ) to the water before boiling it. Then add the grits when water comes to a boil, stir it good as you add the grits, cook them on low heat 5 to 8 minutes. Stir them every now & then..
GRITS 'n  MOLASSES - JELLY TOO
Pour your favorite molasses over grits. Be sure to have biscuits to sop up left over molasess.  Or try your favorite jelly or preserves on top and enjoy. My daughter likes grape jelly on hers
"NEW SOUTH" ??
Grits have been a Southern favorite since I can remember. But, in the so-called "New South" they are becoming less popular as more & more transplants are moving down here to get away from the ills up North.

Some want to make it the same down here.  I hope not..
At least we still have mustard & collard greens and the Confederate flag. Or are they already trying to do away with these???
